歐洲藥典定義了兩種類型的氮氣：“醫(yī)用氮氣”和“低氧氮氣”。顧名思義，前者（醫(yī)用氮氣）是用于醫(yī)療用途的，如醫(yī)院。后者可用于如對氧敏感的藥品的惰性保護(hù)。然而并沒有水分、油分或者粒子的標(biāo)準(zhǔn)。僅僅要求低氧含量氮氣純度99.5%貌似是不充分的。根據(jù)生產(chǎn)、儲存和運輸?shù)那闆r，剩下的0.5%可能就包含水分、油分等。
